TEC Speaker of the Year Awards announced
Yesterday evening, 40 TEC Speakers, Chairs, staff and guests came together in the TEC National Office in North Sydney to celebrate the 2008 TEC Speaker Awards. The awards presentation began at 6pm when I welcomed everyone and introduced TEC CEO Chris Gorman. Chris thanked everyone for attending and spoke about his 20 years as a TEC member and how much he'd learned from the 200+ speakers he'd seen over the years. Then, Jason Tunbridge, GM Operations, presented the awards.
TEC 100% Club This award is all about the speaker and the connection they create with the TEC group on the day. When it's right, it's right, and on that perfect morning, the speaker gets a perfect 100% rating. The TEC 100% Club is a group of only 26 speakers in TEC's 23-year history who have earned perfect scores from the Chair and every TEC member.
Gary Bertwistle Gary finished 2008 with his first perfect presentation on The Fundamentals of Marketing at Bernie Eastman's TEC 41 group in Perth. After many, many 99% ratings during his 8-years presenting to TEC, Gary has cracked it! Great job!
Speaker of the Year This award goes to the speaker who members rated highest for at least 20 presentations in 2008. For the first time, two speakers share this high-performance award by both achieving an overall 92.7%. Yes, we took it into decimals before we called it a tie!
Gary Bertwistle Gary was the 2007 Speaker of the Year, and he had another outstanding year at TEC. He presented on six different topics in 2008, more than any other TEC speaker has ever done in one year. His topics are: The Fundamentals of Marketing, Marketing Warfare, Raise the Roof on your Brand, 8-Cylinder Marketing, The Changing Face of Brands and Leading Innovation. Among Chairs, Gary has achieved the status of 'essential TEC speaker'. He has presented to nearly every TEC group at least once and will continue to have TEC invitations with every new topic he develops. Congratulations, Gary!
Nick Setchell Nick is a global TEC legend with nearly 300 TEC presentations in Australia, England and the US since 2005. Nick's topic Fiscal Focus, A CEOs Guide to the Numbers that Matter has been vital in helping TEC members prepare for the current economic conditions. Last year he divided his time between Australia and England, winning the top speaking awards in both countries. Congratulations, Nick!
Here's to making 2009 another great year for TEC Speaker workshops!
