During a recent keynote in Tamworth, a father shared a philosophy he had been discussing with his teeenage son. He said "The buffalo runs to the storm not away from it." That will be on a t/shirt by Friday. "When a storm approaches, bison (buffalo) charge directly into it rather than running away. Because storms move in a specific direction, fleeing from them only prolongs the time spent in the harsh weather. By running straight through the front of the storm, buffalo minimize their pain, exposure, and frustration, exiting the bad weather much faster." A valuable lesson to not avoid, but confront.
Yesterday I interviewed author Tim Duggan for The Mojo Sessions, about his recent book "Clear in Tension". We discussed the thesis for the book: become a conflict seeker, not a conflict avoider. Be the buffalo, run toward the storm.
