Many years ago a movie was released about the famous circus showman PT Barnum. The movie took us through his life and one quote I have always remembered is “ Genius is the ability to see what's been there all the while to be seen, and no one else could see it”. Perhaps that's why we love this art by street artist Ernest Zacharevic. His site specific work often includes children interacting with rusty pipes or abandoned infrastructure, materials we easily wander by without notice or care, yet in his mind he sees something remarkable.
In a world where we are unable to watch the nightly news in the presence of the child due to the nature of what's reported, it’s refreshing to see beauty, innovation, someone with a different perspective, the celebration of childhood exploration openly displayed where others see a relic. This edition of The Espresso is dedicated to the imagination, courage, boundless possibilities that exist in the mind of a child. Take a moment to enjoy this selection of art, to appreciate the creativity, and the artist behind the work, and contemplate - all that we walk past on a daily basis that could be turned into something special. We also offer some great tips for the whole family on sleep and a link to a presentation on getting creative and stimulating great ideas. We leave this addition with quote from another famous artist - Pablo Picasso: “Every child is an artist - The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”. © GB
